Laser Hair Removal
Lasers provide gentle, non-invasive and long-lasting solutions to unwanted hair. IPL-based methods, sometimes called "phototricholysis" or "photoepilation", are now commonly (but incorrectly) referred to as "laser hair removal". We do not use these types of technology at MD Aesthetics. We only use a diode, which a true laser, and one specifically designed for the permanent reduction of hair. Dr. Copeland is pleased to offer his patients the LightSheer® DUET which has revolutionized the Gold Standard LightSheer® with vacuum-assist technology, 75% reduced treatment time, and little or no discomfort. This most advanced laser allows MD Aesthetics to provide Permanent Hair Reduction at almost the cost of waxing, in a safe medical environment. Common treatment areas include underarm, bikini, legs, abdomen, back, face and chest.
Treatment & Side Effects
Permanent hair reduction is defined as the long-term, stable reduction in the number of hairs which grow back after a treatment regime. Although laser treatments will permanently reduce the total number of body hairs, they will not result in a permanent removal of all hair. Individual results depend on hair colour and coarseness, skin colour, hair density, treatment area, and the level of skill and experience of the treatment operator.
Possible side effects include reddening, mild swelling, acne flare-up, or itching around the treatment area. This reaction rarely lasts more than three day and often subsides quickly. Hypo- or hyper-pigmentation, burning of the skin, and scabbing are also possible but rare. Unwanted side effects can be reduced by following instructions given during consultation, choosing a reputable clinic and especially refraining from tanning the area while undergoing treatment.
